Year 12 student, Tataya Curry-Jones was recently a finalist in the NSW Training Awards Regional Finals, going on to be named Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year (2024).
Held on 21 June, the Western Sydney & Blue Mountains Training Awards presentation was the Regional final of the NSW Training Awards. Held annually, the aim of the Awards is to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector. The Awards honour and reward the achievements of students, trainers/teachers, registered training organisations and employers. This is so cool! 🤩👏 Over the holidays, Cerdon College Merrylands Year 12 students Amber, Celine, Lena and Wendy joined around 250 students 😲from all over Australia at The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) ⚗️at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. 😍 Over an incredible 10-day science experience, they participated in activities such as solving crimes using forensic chemistry 🧪🕵️♀️, video game development 🎮🕹️, practising medical procedures at a simulated hospital facility 💉🩺👩⚕️, delving into Space Ethics 👩🚀🛰️🚀🛸as part of the Great Debate and competing in the NYSF Olympics! 🏅

🫶IT'S WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE 🫶and we're shining a light on this inspirational student from Emmaus Catholic College who has just become a Youth Parliamentarian in the portfolio of Disability, Inclusion and Accessibility. 👏 😇Year 11 Social Justice Leader, Angelina will receive training over the next six months that is designed to help her build confidence, develop leadership skills, engage with civic leadership, policy development and democratic parliamentary debate. ⚖🗣 Passionate about inclusion, Angelina is excited that she will get to create Youth Bills with recommendations on issues for change. These will then be debated during a mock sitting week in NSW Parliament House with Members of Parliament invited to chair. An inspiring day of connection, learning, and cultural appreciation! 🙌🔥 Xavier College Llandilo Year 7 students had a fantastic time at their Cultural Immersion Day. 🌿🎨 As the name suggests, they got to fully immerse themselves in the rich culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians 🖤💛❤️, participating in a range of activities including scratch art 🖌, storytelling 🗣, boat making 🛶, clay moulding 🏺, boomerang throwing 🪃, art 🎨, and dance 🕺.
