Year 12 student, Tataya Curry-Jones was recently a finalist in the NSW Training Awards Regional Finals, going on to be named Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year (2024).
Held on 21 June, the Western Sydney & Blue Mountains Training Awards presentation was the Regional final of the NSW Training Awards. Held annually, the aim of the Awards is to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector. The Awards honour and reward the achievements of students, trainers/teachers, registered training organisations and employers. πWhat could be cooler than SURF SCHOOL πββοΈπto get our students summer ready?! πWe think it's fantastic that many of our secondary schools take their students for a practical learning experience at a Surf School. The fun excursion is an excellent opportunity for students to develop new skills, such as how to identify safe and dangerous surf zones, as well as the identification of rips and what to do if caught in one. Sun, beaches π or pools, and a floatie or two are a big part of summer βlife for many Australians. πποΈ Swimming carnivals π₯½were a common activity for our schools, like St John's Primary, Riverstone, π©³π©± in Term 4 as the weather heated up. Such great fun! π Along with sunscreen, the main way to stay safe out there in the water is to know how to swim properly. ππ»ππ»ββοΈ Year 7 students atEmmaus Catholic College Kemps Creek completed the Learn2Swim program during sport last term, building their confidence in the water, practising water safety, πand mastering life-saving techniques π€to ensure they were ready for the school break. π Have a great time out in the water π§π¦this school holidays everyone and remember to always swim between the flags. π

There were cute baby animals π₯°galore at our schools in 2024 - and we ooh'd and ahh'd over them all! πβ€οΈ There's the beautiful resident peacock π¦ and family at St Columba's Catholic College, Springwood. Ducks π¦at Sacred Heart Primary School Mount Druitt, St Canice's Primary Katoomba, Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School Kellyville, St Angela's Primary School Castle Hill, π¦ Bede Polding College South Windsor and even some visiting ones at St Michael's Baulkham Hills. π¦ Baby's super cute twin lambs Fluffy and Puffy πat Marian Catholic College Kenthurst, new lambs πat Bede Polding, chickens π₯π€ including Honeycomb, Vanilla and Goldie at St Canice's and baby chicks at St Michael's.π£ Students at Marian also found time to make some braided toys for rescue dogs πΆπΎand puppies like the adorable Pippa while at Bede Polding there was the strange sighting of a chicken sitting on a sheep! πππ€£

What a privilegeπ for the entire Bede Polding College South Windsor community to have the Penrith Panthers four-timeππππ NRL Premiership Coach Ivan Cleary visit the school recently. Ivan gave fantastic advice to parents, student and teachers about achieving excllence, in any walk of life. β¨ HIGHLIGHTS from the 2024 CAPTIVATE Dance Festival! β¨ Held in Term 4, the event showcased incredible talent and inspiring performances from students around the Parramatta Diocese. From the matinee to the evening shows, the audience was in awe of the hard work and creativity on display. π Special thanks to the amazing dance teachers and student choreographers who made these performances come to life, and to world-renowned choreographer Sarah Boulter for leading a memorable student workshop. π‘ Sarah also worked with a select group of top dancers from across the Diocese, creating the breathtaking performance 'Divide and Conquer', which opened and closed the festival. π Congratulations to all the schools involved! Congratulationsπ₯³ to Xavier College Llandilo Year 12 student Grezzu Vella who earned official selection for the OnSTAGE showcaseππ of outstanding major works by HSC Drama students. Santa Sophia Catholic College's Meenal Murugappan earned selection for Poster & Promotion Design.πππ A proud Aboriginal student, Grezzu impressed HSC judges with his moving Indigenous performance which reflects the personal struggles Grezzu has faced through his life.
