19 June update on PageUp recruitment platform

Dear friends,

As you are aware, the CEDP link to its job recruitment platform PageUp was disconnected on 6 June when we were informed by PageUp that there had been 'suspicious activity' on the platform. It was confirmed in the days following that there had been a breach of the PageUp network and that some personal information from applicants had been accessed. CEDP is one of a large number of organisations that uses this platform. These companies include Australia Post, Coles, Telstra, Aldi and Medibank.

CEDP has provided information to stakeholders about this matter via its website. This included advice on what to do if someone is concerned about the privacy of their data. This advice is included at the end of this message. CEDP has also been contacting people who have applied for positions via the platform.

On Friday 16 June, PageUp informed its stakeholders that it has taken decisive steps to enhance the security of its network. As a result of this, it believes that there no longer exists a vulnerability in the platform. A verification certificate has been issued by PageUp to support this. With this in mind, and after careful deliberation, CEDP has made the decision to reactivate the link to the recruitment platform.

CEDP apologies for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of the PageUp platform, and thanks you for your patience during this time.

What can you do to protect your data?

If you think your details have been compromised, you can contact the national identity and cyber support service IDCARE on 1300 432 273 or use their free Cyber First Aid Kit.
